The Bath County Boys and Girls basketball teams’ games didn’t go as planned as both suffered defeats on the road to open the 2016-17 season.
The boys basketball team took a 62-42 defeat at the hands of Nicholas County. The Wildcats were outscored by 13 in the 2nd quarter and never recovered as they dropped to 0-1.
The Lady Cats played well early on the road at Brooksville. The LadyCats led 12-9 after the first quarter and trailed Bracken by only three 24-21 at the half. However, a disastrous third quarter that saw the LadyCats fail to score, doomed the ‘Cats in their first game of the season. Final score: Bracken County- 58, Bath County- 27.
Both squads will have little time to correct their first misgiving as they hop right back on the floor Wednesday night.
The LadyCats stay on the road at Paris and the Wildcats will have their home opener vs. Morgan County.
Both game times are 6:00 pm for JV and 7:30 pm for varsity.
