The Cross Country Teams competed at the GRC ‘Run for the Water Barrel’ 5K at Lykins Park in Winchester. The race was the largest in its history.
Top teams from the area competed including Madison Central, Lexington Christian, Lexington Lafayette, GRC, Rowan Co, Bourbon Co, Elliott Co, Owen Co, Augusta, Powell Co, Berea and Nicholas Co.
The Girls Team finished 6th Overall and the Boys 9th in the team standings.
Leading the Girls was Senior Carrie Staviski finishing 7th in a time of 20:58.53. Sophomore Isabella Copher finished 10th in a time of 21:19.21. Junior Abby Henderson placed 23rd running a Season’s Best 22:43.13. Senior Kristin Riddle finished 28th at 23:03.29.Freshman Amelia Oldfield placed 67th with a 27:25.74. Freshman Jaycie Bussell took a minute off her last race and finished at 27:40.10 in 68th place. Sophomore Makayla Blackburn finished 73rd with a 28:11.99.
Junior James Overholser led the Boys finishing 16th in a time of 18:19.12. Junior Caleb Bowen placed 36th in a time of 19:21.65. Freshman Hunter Middleton crossed the line with a strong finish at 20:34.41 in 63rd place. Sophomore Taylor Purvis finished 95th with a 22:08.99. Seventh Grader Eli Ulery set a Personal Record by 5 ½ minutes finishing 114th with an excellent time of 24:30.41. Eight Grader Rodney Crouch ran a 29:11.74 placing 133rd.
Staviski, Copher, and Overholser all earned Individual Medals for their races.
In the middle school 2.5K races Seventh Grader Lilly Harwell finished 40th at 15:59.48
The Elementary 1 Mile had [Girls] Madison Mabior 14th (7:51.36), Izzy Hughes 44th (9:17.58), Gracie Lewis 74th (10:38.92), Chloe Leet 76th (10:43.54), Gabriella Stacy-Bonet 78th (10:45.21) [Boys] Landon Branham 60th (8:28.13).
