2017 EKC CHAMPIONS

The Girls Cross Country Team brought home the prestigious Eastern Kentucky Conference Championship. It took the number six finisher, Jaycie Bussell, to break the five place count with Morgan County.

The Championship was held in Sandy Hook hosted by Elliott County.

Carrie Staviski finishing 2nd overall in the Girls race in a Season’s Best time of 20:23.30. Isabella Copher finished 5th in a time of 21:11.20. Abby Henderson placed 10th running a Season’s Best 21:47.80. Kristin Riddle finished 14th at 22:41.90. Amelia Oldfield placed 23rd with a 25:14.60. Jaycie Bussell broke the tie and finished at 27:37.90 in 33rd place.

Awards Stand

The Girls all hit or were below their goal for the 1 Mile Split as the race was a super fast start.

The Boys placed 4th as a Team and were led by Caleb Bowen finishing 3rd in a time of 17:30.20. James Overholser placed 4th in a Personal Record time of 17:43.40. Hunter Middleton also set a Personal Record finishing 20th at 19:13.80. Taylor Purvis took a minute off his time with a Personal Record run of 20:32.50 in 28th place. Eli Ulery finished with a time of 25:08.30 and Rodney Crouch ran a 29:19.60.

Staviski, Copher and Henderson for the Girls, Bowen and Overholser for the Boys earned EKC Individual Trophies for their races which were presented to the athletes at the awards stand following the competition.
