Boys Varsity Basketball · Dan Swartz Classic Day 2 Sees Losing Streaks End with Anticipation of Championship Saturday


The second day of the Dan Swartz Classic was highlighted by the best game of the tournament and a couple of teams ended losing streaks as Championship Saturday was set.

In the first Consolation contest of the day, the Russell Red Devils beat Adair County 80-67.

The Red Devils were led in scoring by Charlie Jachimczuck’s 22 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals. Jachimczuck was named the Player of the Game. Griffin Downs scored 17, Tristan MIller and Brady Bell added 15.

Russell ended a 5 game losing streak with the victory.

Adair County was led in scoring by Jordan Simpson’s 23 points. Lucas Pooler had a double-double with 10pts and 10 boards. Devin Richardson added 13 points.

In the second consolation game of the day Bath County defeated Estill County 70-59.

Bath County’s Austin Reed was player of the game with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Chandler Otis and Jake Porter had 14, and Brooks Williams added 13.

The Wildcats ended a 5 game losing streak with the win.

Estill County was led in scoring by Joe Benton’s 25 points. Dyllon Long finished with 15 points and Landon Napier had 12pts.

In the first semifinal game Johnson Central used a big first quarter(25-6) to hold off East Carter 76-58.

Johnson Central’s Isaiah May was selected player of the game with 30pts and 5 rebounds. Jacob Rice added 14pts.

East Carter was led in scoring by Jordan Brook’s 13 points. Josh Damron finished with 11 points.

In the 2nd semifinal, Anderson County won a barnburner over Lewis County 60-57.

Anderson County’s Brennon Maxberry was Player of the Game with 18 points, 14 of those coming in the 4th quarter. Jagger Gillis scored 15 and Alex Carpenter finished with 12.

Lewis County was led in scoring by Sam O’Keefe’s 17 points. Tanner Willis added 10 points.
