The hot shooting Bath County Wildcats extended their winning streak to 4 games, the longest of the season, with weekend wins over Menifee County and Nicholas County.

Friday night the Cats got out to a hot start and eventually had to grind out a 72-59 win over 61st district rival Menifee County.

Bath County raced out to a 41-17 halftime lead but Menifee County came out of the locker room with enlightened determination to bring the game as close as 8 points in the second half.

Jake Porter led Bath with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Evan Lyons was 4 for 8 from the 3 point line as he finished with 13 points. Ryan Leach added 11 points.

Menifee County was led in scoring by Travis Trimble’s 21 points and 9 rebounds.

The win improved Bath County’s district record to 2-2 on the season. Menifee dropped to 0-4 and 6-11 overall.

Coach Bart Williams’ club was caught in a close one early but a big 2nd half helped them cruise to a 89-69 win over Nicholas County Saturday night.

Three point shooting was the name of the game as the Cats hit 11 from behind the arc.

Brooks Williams hit 6 long ones as he finished with a game high 22 points. Jake Porter had another outstanding overall game as he just missed a triple-double with a line of 18 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists. He also blocked 4 shots and had 2 steals. Chandler Otis earned 16 points and Evan Lyons added 11.

Nicholas County was led in scoring by Noah Gritton’s 16 points.

The win improved the Wildcats to 7-9 on the season. Nicholas County dropped to 4-9.
