The Lady Cats hosted the Consulting Services Incorporated CSI Lady Cat Invitational Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. Competing in the tournament were Paris Independent, Lewis County, and Nicholas County.
In the opening contest for the Lady Cats, Savannah had a commanding performance at the mound pitching a shutout. The third inning proved to be a scoring fest for the Lady Cats with eight runs. Two doubles from Kennedy Thomas and Savannah Hamilton, a walk by Allison Karrick, a single by Jesselin Miller, and an error put in play by Samantha Swartz were too much for the Lady Greyhounds.
The second contest was more competitive. Unfortunately, the Lady Cats fell to to the Lady Lions of Lewis County 3 to 2. Positive notes from the second contest were the pitching performance of McKenna Moore who stuck out eleven batters and not giving up any walks. Moore also led the team offensively with two hits in three turns at bat. Jesselin Miller recorded another home run this season in the fourth inning.
Saturday’s opening contest for the Lady Cats was determined in the first inning as the Lady Cats scored six runs which the Lady Blue Jackets of Nicholas County could not recover despite a persistent effort. Scoring for the Lady Cats in their opening, decisive inning were McKenna Moore, Savannah Hamilton, Taylor Hodson, Kylen Messer, Brianna Day, and Samantha Swartz. Kirstin Vice recorded the win at the mound for Bath County.
Despite recording more hits than Lewis County in the final game, the Lady Cats fell to the Lady Lions 6-4. The Lady Cats gave it a strong effort including a solo home run by Kennedy Thomas in the seventh inning.
