Girls Varsity Track · Copher named Midway/KHSAA Track Athlete of the Year


Bath County TRACKCAT Isabella Copher has been selected as the Midway University/KHSAA Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year for 2019-2020.

The Award is based on Athletic and Academic achievement as well as Community Service and Leadership.

Nomination Process:

School Administrators and/or Coaches can nominate through the KHSAA any qualified high school athlete. Isabella was nominated by her coach Rick Staviski.

Judging Criteria:

A panel of judges selected by Midway University and the KHSAA review all nominations and make their selection of each individual Student-Athlete.

The nominations are judged on 60% Athletic Achievement, 20% Academic Achievement, and 20% Community Service/Leadership.

Isabella excels at all three criteria.

Academics:

She carries a 4.0 GPA

Community Service/Leadership:

Isabella has volunteered her time on many occasions with the Ridgeway Nursing Home Alzheimer’s Walk, Owingsville Manor Nursing Home Christmas visit, the Federation of Christian Athlete’s (FCA) community Sports Academy, and the Kentucky Special Olympic Track & Field State Championship. Isabella is a first class Team Captain on the Track & Field Team and has gone above and beyond to improve herself in this role. She has completed the NFHS Coursework ‘Captains Course’, ‘Concussions for Students’, ‘Social Media for Students’, and ‘Hazing Prevention for Students’. These four completed courses have earned her the Bath County Track & Field ‘Certified Team Captain’ Certificate.

Isabella will be joining the Morehead State University Eagle’s next year.
